Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Business Analyst to join our IT division. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in a dynamic work environment where their efforts yield immediate results and who wish to play a crucial role in a leading energy trading organization.

As a Senior Business Analyst, you will possess a natural inclination to lead in deciphering business needs and overarching commercial goals, ensuring that technological solutions align with evolving business requirements. A solid understanding of contemporary technology trends is essential, including familiarity with tools such as AWS, Humio, MongoDB, and Kubernetes, all of which support our Cloud-first strategy.

Team Dynamics

In this role, you will collaborate with a proficient Agile (Scrum or Kanban) team within our development department, which comprises over 70 professionals engaged in various projects. Expect a multifaceted role where you will partner with development teams and business stakeholders to shape product outcomes.

Centrica Energy is adaptable to change. Business requirements may shift frequently, and we release multiple software updates daily. Our micro-service architecture, continuous delivery model, and close collaboration with internal clients provide immediate feedback, making the experience both rewarding and challenging.

Key Responsibilities

We are looking for a Senior Business Analyst to support our Digitization initiative, focusing on the development of a greenfield platform to comprehensively manage complex Renewable transactions, including but not limited to Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Corporate PPAs, and Gas Purchase Agreements.

Candidate Profile

We will evaluate candidates based on their expertise and aspirations. We expect you to:

  • Hold a relevant degree with experience in the commodities sector, particularly in Power, Gas, and Emissions markets.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to delivering high-quality products.
  • Enjoy close collaboration with internal stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Exhibit leadership skills to resolve business conflicts and navigate from concept to requirement to product.
  • Be eager to explore new technologies and continuously enhance your and your team's skill set.

A business-oriented mindset and a preference for a busy, varied workday are essential. We frequently experiment with innovative ideas and methods, so being self-motivated and proactive is crucial.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ETRM systems.
  • Background in broker-dealer quote platforms.
  • Experience in providing trading analytics software for price forecasting and commodity demand projections.
  • A solid understanding of Linear Programming and Optimization.
