Job Description

We are seeking an Academic Researcher to join our project on electoral defeat explanations. The successful candidate will be part of a vibrant and supportive research team, working closely with Professor Martin Bækgaard and other researchers to explore how party leaders communicate their electoral defeat explanations to their partisans and the public.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct research on party leader explanations across time and countries, using quantitative content analysis and large-N analysis of cross-national data
  • Develop a typology of electoral defeat-explanations and use qualitative interviews with former and current party leaders to explore how they think about the communication of electoral defeats
  • Design and administer surveys and experiments to examine the effects of different explanations on partisan perceptions of the election result and the party leader
Requirements
  • PhD in Political Science or a related field
  • Experience with quantitative content analysis, survey design, and experimental methods
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English
