Postdoctoral Researcher in Exoplanet Host Stars

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team at Aarhus Universitet (AU) to investigate exoplanet host stars. This is a unique opportunity to collaborate with experts in the field of stellar oscillations, exoplanetary science, and astrophysics.
The position will focus on exploiting data from facilities such as Kepler and TESS to detect and study asteroseismic signals in solar-like exoplanet host stars. The successful candidate will have expertise in machine learning, noise mitigation techniques, and/or star-planet interactions.
Job DescriptionThe postdoctoral researcher will work closely with the Astronomy group at AU, contributing to research projects related to exoplanets and their host stars. The primary tasks include:
- Detecting and characterizing asteroseismic signals in solar-like exoplanet host stars using advanced machine learning algorithms and noise mitigation techniques.
- Studying particularly interesting systems in detail, focusing on star-planet interactions and planetary formation processes.
- Investigating the impact of stellar oscillations on planetary atmospheres and the detection of biosignatures.
In addition to these core responsibilities, the postdoctoral researcher will have the opportunity to pursue other lines of related research and contribute to the development of new research projects within the department.
Requirements and QualificationsTo be considered for this position, applicants must hold a PhD in astronomy or a related field and have significant experience in handling large datasets and programming languages such as Python or IDL. Expertise in asteroseismology, astrophysical noise sources, machine learning, or star-planet interactions is highly desirable. The ability to publish in relevant astrophysics journals and a strong oral and written proficiency in English are essential requirements.
