About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced protein and peptide purification scientist to join our research team at Novo Nordisk A/S. As a key member of our Purification Research 1 department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality purified recombinant peptides and proteins to support our early research projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement efficient laboratory-scale purification methods in collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Deliver purified peptides and proteins according to project needs using state-of-the-art chromatography systems, filtration technologies, and analytical equipment.
  • Proactively prepare, present, and discuss scientific tasks, challenges, and results within project teams.
  • Ensure excellent scientific quality of studies and general procedures.
  • Lead and support technicians/associated colleagues in their work, securing a well-balanced workload.
  • Coordinate project teams and engage in cross-functional/departmental collaboration.
  • Identify and implement new technologies and technological innovations.
  • Maintain and expand the international scientific network, staying up-to-date in the field of expertise.
Requirements
  • PhD in protein chemistry, molecular biology, bioprocess engineering, or a similar field, combined with experience in purification in a pharmaceutical or biotech research setting.
  • Experience with purification of various peptide and protein molecular formats.
  • Experience with in-process analyses such as RP/SEC-HPLC, LCMS, and SDS-PAGE is an advantage.
  • Highly innovative mindset with a keen eye for continuous improvement and automation.
  • Experience in driving cross-functional and global collaborations.
  • Experience with digitalisation and scripting in Python is an advantage.
About the Department

The Purification Research 1 department consists of approximately 15 highly engaged scientists and laboratory technicians, working closely with the Purification Research 2 department. We are part of the Recombinant Drug Research CVP area in Global Research Technologies (GRT) and are situated in Måløv, Denmark.

We are engaged in early research projects using state-of-the-art technology to deliver purified proteins and peptides from recombinant expressions carried out in sister departments for the development of lead molecules and selection for clinical development. In this context, the department is responsible for the purification of challenging tool proteins, platform-based automated purifications, as well as highly customized purification of engineered variant molecules in milligram to gram scale quantities. In addition, the department supports cell line development and is responsible for developing the initial purification process suited for transfer to our CMC colleagues.
