Research Position in Neuroscience at Københavns Universitet

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team at the Department of Neuroscience, Københavns Universitet. The successful candidate will be involved in conducting cutting-edge research in the field of Systems Neuroscience, with a focus on studying the generation and functions of theta oscillations in spatial navigation.

The project will involve conducting Neuropixels recordings from awake rodents, performing circuit manipulation, and analyzing spiking data at the population level. This research will take place at the Department of Neuroscience at the University of Copenhagen in Dr. Peter C. Petersen's lab. The successful applicant will join a diverse, interdisciplinary team of neuroscientists and data analysts and will be part of a thriving international neuroscience environment.

About the Position:

The primary responsibilities of this position will include designing and performing experiments, developing technical advances, performing data analysis, and presenting the results. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with the lab members and other project participants to achieve the goals of the project.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct independent research of high international quality, including publications and other research outputs.
  • Perform the project described above.
  • Collaborate with lab members and other project participants.
  • Assist with student supervision.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate should have a Ph.D. in Neuroscience or a related field, experience in electrophysiology, and an active interest in the brain's memory mechanisms. Strong communication skills and the ability to work in teams are also essential. Knowledge of and experience with optogenetics/virus/genetic techniques and tools, as well as computational neuroscience, are desirable but not required.
