Director of Rodent Metabolic Phenotyping Operations

The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research at the University of Copenhagen is seeking an experienced professional to serve as the Director of Rodent Metabolic Phenotyping Operations. This is a full-time and permanent position with a start date of August 1, 2023.
This role involves managing a team of specialists and animal technicians responsible for the operation of the Rodent Metabolic Phenotyping Platform (RMPP). The successful candidate will oversee the development and management of RMPP, ensuring its smooth operation and contributing to the growth of the platform. This includes developing software solutions for facility management, coordinating projects and tasks, implementing quality control procedures, and promoting initiatives to improve animal welfare.
In addition to these responsibilities, the Director will work closely with the Platform Coordinator Associate Professor Jonas Treebak, the Platform Steering Group, and other staff members to achieve the goals of RMPP. A strong emphasis is placed on collaboration, communication, and teamwork.

Responsibilities- Manage a team of specialists and animal technicians
- Develop and implement software solutions for facility management
- Coordinate and prioritize platform projects and tasks
- Implement quality control procedures
- Promote initiatives to improve animal welfare
- Collaborate with the Platform Coordinator and other staff members
- A Master's or PhD degree in a physiological, biological, or veterinary sciences-related discipline, or business administration
- Experience with project and team management
- Solid hands-on and theoretical expertise in rodent in vivo experiments, preferably including metabolic phenotyping techniques
- Approved FELASA C/function ABD course or similar course, with permission to obtain independent license from the Danish Animal Experiments Inspectorate
- Solid knowledge within national regulations of animal experiments, 3R, ethics, and welfare
- Solid experience in data management, calculations, statistics, and data presentation
- Strong problem-solving skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to work independently
The salary for this position is approximately DKK 680,000 - 900,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
