About the Position

Aarhus BSS, Aarhus University, invites applications for associate professorship positions in industrial engineering to join the Department of Business Development and Technology (BTECH).

The successful candidates will become part of the EngTech research section, where they will be expected to contribute to the department's research and teaching activities. BTECH has a strong focus on company collaboration, which is reflected in our research and study programs.

Key Responsibilities

We are seeking candidates with a strong background in mechanical engineering, production engineering, or a similar field. The ideal candidate will have expertise in two or more of the following disciplines:

  • Manufacturing: Mechanical engineering or production automation related to physical production and production technologies.
  • Product lifecycle management, including product design, product development, production, and recycling/decommissioning.
  • Complex manufacturing systems and layouts, including machining, assembly, modularization, automation, stocking, and digitalization.
  • Manufacturing and global supply chains, including topics such as reshoring and nearshoring.
  • General considerations with respect to manufacturing, including quality, compliance, sustainability, standards, and regulation.

Candidates are expected to teach and supervise students at all levels, including PhD students. Our study programs include an MSc in Engineering (Technology-Based Business Development) as well as Bachelor of Engineering programs in Forretningsudvikling (Business Development) and Global Management and Manufacturing (supply chain/production).

Requirements

Employment as an associate professor requires a PhD degree and a strong academic background as assistant professor or equivalent. We prefer applicants with the following qualifications:

  • A proven record of strong international research, as evidenced by publications in highly reputed international journals.
  • A track record of excellence in teaching on topics relevant for our study programs.
  • A clear, well-developed, and viable strategy for future high-level research.
  • A track record of good citizenship in the wider academic community combined with a commitment to contributing to a vibrant work environment at our department.
  • A commitment to sharing insights and knowledge with the broader society and prioritizing dialogue with practitioners.
  • A commitment to teaching that provides students with relevant competences as well as the ability to reflect critically on business topics.
  • A willingness to engage in external research funding activities.

Applicants are encouraged to describe how their research is important for industry, including concrete collaborations, impact, dissemination activities, etc.
