The Royal Danish Defence College (RDDC) invites highly qualified individuals to apply for an associate professorship in Public Governance and Management at the Department of Leadership and Organization. As a leading expert, you will contribute significantly to the department's research and teaching environment, as well as the overall research strategy of RDDC.

We seek a candidate who can strengthen collaboration with defence actors, institutions, and society regarding military management and force generation. Your expertise should cover research areas such as:

  • Public governance and management, including defence management
  • Cross-sector collaboration, co-creation, and co-production
  • Military innovation and military force generation
  • Governance networks, policy labs, and design thinking
  • Societal security and crisis management

About Us

The Department for Leadership and Organization conducts education, research, and development in the field of leadership and organization, primarily within the context of the Danish Defense. We educate leaders at all levels, from non-commissioned officers to military top executives within the areas of leadership, command, management, and administration. Our research focuses on leadership and organization from an interdisciplinary perspective, using qualitative and quantitative methods, case studies, and field studies.

About the Position

The associate professorship is a full-time and permanent position with teaching and research responsibilities starting on 1 September 2024 or as soon as possible subject to mutual agreement. You are expected to be physically present regularly, actively participate in department activities, and support the research and teaching environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research meeting high international standards
  • Teach in existing and future RDDC programs, including the military master program and the strategic leadership program
  • Develop new teaching programs, involving didactic experimenting (such as war gaming) and research-based teaching
  • Initiate fundraising and coordinate research projects
  • Contribute to administrative responsibilities of the department and to RDDC faculty tasks
  • Communicate findings to the public and to RDDC stakeholders
  • Develop collaborative initiatives between defence institutions and relevant actors
  • Participate in department activities, including research meetings and workshops

Qualifications

To be eligible, you must have:

  • A PhD degree or equivalent in a relevant field
  • Documented excellence in teaching, research, and service
  • Documented teaching qualification for evaluation of the applicants' pedagogical level
  • Documented research production at an international level
  • Teaching and research experience within the areas of public governance and management and/or related areas
