Primary Packaging Materials Engineer Position for Innovation and Development

Novo Nordisk A/S is a global healthcare company that seeks a highly skilled Primary Packaging Materials Engineer to join its Material Manufacturing Development (ManDev) department. The successful candidate will play a key role in the implementation of new primary packaging materials and their maintenance.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering, material science, or a related field, with practical experience in the development or maintenance of primary packaging for pharmaceuticals. They will be proficient in working in a GMP environment, system engineering, safety risk management, and quality specifications.

This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic scientific environment with highly engaged colleagues and collaborate closely with various departments, including R&D, QA, Production, and Supply Chain. The role involves bringing new primary packaging materials from clinical development to market, including receiving documentation from R&D and regulatory filing activities.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Oversee primary packaging components or systems for oral pharmaceuticals, such as foils, blister packs, and bulk containers.
  • Manage lifecycle activities of primary packaging materials for commercial products.
  • Evaluate new suppliers and implement changes to component and technology improvements, documenting them in our Quality Management System.
  • Ensure technical performance, processability, and safety of primary packaging components and systems.
  • Lead investigations of primary packaging components, analyzing customer complaints and identifying root causes to ensure performance and quality.

The current office location is Bagsværd; however, the department will relocate to Taastrup in 2026.

Requirements:

  • A master's degree in engineering, material engineering, or any other relevant field within natural sciences.
  • Practical experience in development or maintenance of primary packaging for pharmaceuticals.
  • Expertise in working in a GMP environment, system engineering, safety risk management, and quality specifications.
  • Fuency in both written and spoken English.

  • An estimated salary of approximately €85,000 - €110,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
