Marine Biogeochemistry Researcher in Greenlandic Waters
7 days ago
At Danmarks Tekniske Universitet (DTU), we're seeking a talented and motivated PhD candidate to join our WaterColor project, focusing on marine microbial carbon cycling in Greenlandic waters. As part of this exciting opportunity, you'll have the chance to work with complex, multidisciplinary topics and contribute to our understanding of the Earth system's response to climate change.
The project will combine field observations and experimental work, leveraging existing data from previous campaigns and collecting new samples/experiments through fieldwork. You'll be expected to lead the preparation of scientific publications for international journals and share your research findings with professional audiences at conferences.
This position involves working with samples and data on microbial community abundance and biomass, including bacteria, phytoplankton, and zooplankton. Experimental work will focus on determining key process rates, such as plankton primary production, phagotrophy, and nutrient assimilation.
We're looking for a researcher with a strong background in marine sciences, preferably with experience in field and laboratory work. Knowledge of microbial carbon cycling, programming languages (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, Python, R), and communication skills in English are essential. If you're passionate about contributing to our team's success and advancing our understanding of oceanographic sciences, we encourage you to apply.
