**About the PhD Position**

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled researcher to join our team at DTU Aqua. As a PhD student, you will be part of the Centre for Gelatinous Plankton Ecology & Evolution and contribute to our research on the impact of climate change on marine ecosystems.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop and apply underwater image and hydroacoustic technology to assess plankton life across different ecosystems worldwide. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a cutting-edge project that addresses some of the most pressing issues in marine science.

In this position, you will be responsible for collecting new data, analyzing existing data, and synthesizing climate change impacts on food-webs. You will also develop high-throughput AI-assisted quantification tools and modify or create new models to understand energy flow to higher trophic levels.

The project has a strong focus on interdisciplinary collaboration and international fieldwork campaigns. You will work closely with our team of experts in biological oceanography, ecology, and biogeochemistry to achieve our goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and apply underwater image and hydroacoustic technology to assess plankton life
  • Analyze existing data and synthesize climate change impacts on food-webs
  • Develop high-throughput AI-assisted quantification tools
  • Modify or create new models to understand energy flow to higher trophic levels

About You:

  • You have a master's degree in natural sciences (e.g., marine biology, oceanography, environmental engineering)
  • You have experience in fieldwork within biological oceanography (preferably plankton) and technical skills to run and modify equipment
  • You have good collaborative skills and a strong interest in participating in an inter-disciplinary and international research environment
  • You have flexibility concerning fieldwork and research stays abroad
