The Head of Creative leads the people, processes, and partners that drive BLAST's creative output. They manage and develop our in-house team (currently 10 creatives), freelancers, and agency collaborators, setting clear goals, running performance and development cycles, and ensuring the team is equipped to handle multiple projects at pace.
This role serves as the bridge between the Creative team and the wider business, working closely with a wide range of internal department leaders, including Executive Producers and Product managers, Commercial, Audience and Production.
They are responsible for keep stakeholders aligned, resolving issues early, and working closely with product and shared services to maintain smooth workflows. A key part of the job is defining and maintaining the operational blueprint for how creative services interact across the company.
This role oversees resource planning by mapping capacity needs, allocating talent effectively, and building a scalable roster of external partners. While not responsible for hands-on quality control, they're accountable for the standards, culture, and conditions that enable industry-leading creative delivery.
The Head of Creative represents the creative vision of the department and fosters a collaborative, energised team environment that keeps the fun and spirit of gaming and entertainment at the core of how we work.
Requirements
Responsibilities:- Stakeholder management, ensuring timely communication to internal and external stakeholders and resolving issues as they arise.
- Strong liaison and co-ordination with internal product and shared services leaders.
- Problem-solving ensure timely communication of all key inputs for shared service leaders to respond to work on an operational blueprint for the ecosystem so shared service leaders understand the needs of the ecosystem
- Resource planning & creative allocation, building out yearly resource allocation plans for creatives (internal & external) time to match project workload.
- Build a significant and trusted pool of freelancers and agencies to meet our demand to scale as required.
- Cross-team collaboration, Inspiring team members and BLAST internal departments to work cohesively, across product, production, commercial, and leadership teams.
- Quality control, work to maintain highest standards of delivery, on brand, and with creative growth and integrity.ensuring that the team and business deliver industry leading output.
- Set a creative operating culture to be proud of, working within competitive entertainment and gaming is by nature, FUN The Head Of Creative ensures that spirit stays alive within the creative services team and in general collaboration.
- RFP & Proposal Support, participate in RFP processes, helping to shape Creative Services cost estimates and staffing plans.
- People and team management, supports, guides, and develops our in-house designers, freelance and agency partners in order to meet KPI's across multiple simultaneous projects. Holds Performance and development conversations and creates clear goals and development structures for members of the team
- Has 5+ years of experience of an industry where creative delivery is a fundamental part of the job, ideally in a media, broadcast or events based company
- Understands what goes into delivering a-z creative work
- Can demonstrate strong strategic thinking, able to link creative design output to wider business goals.
- Proven experience and can demonstrate a track record in thriving in a fast paced and high performing environment
- Experience in working with freelancers and agency partners to source the right freelancers and agency partners to enable BLAST to deliver at a global scale.
- Can build structure and overview over our global creative partners.
- Has people and team management experience able to coach, lead and manage a creative team, ensuring that regular one to ones and performance and development reviews are completed
- Loves making things happen in collaboration with other likeminded, dedicated people.
- Can demonstrate they are calm under pressure and when things are not going to plan and flexible so that challenges, updated briefs and unexpected opportunities are seen as a natural (and fun) part of the job.
- Has great presentation and communication skills, able to explain creative thinking in simple, concise language
