The Role

We're hiring Senior Software Engineers to join the core team responsible for our data collection and ingestion platform. You'll work in a small, agile group alongside product, design, and customer teams to build and scale large-scale web data pipelines and the services that power them.

With ~20 people in the company (~10 engineers), every contributor has outsized impact. We value engineers who see the bigger picture, communicate clearly across functions, and take end-to-end ownership.

What You'll Do

  • Evolve the large-scale data collection and ingestion platform for web data.
  • Design and run ETL/ELT jobs to process, clean, and model high-volume datasets.
  • Improve reliability, quality, and security across data pipelines and storage.
  • Design clean, well-versioned APIs and microservices (REST/gRPC) using DDD where it fits.
  • Build event-driven systems with messaging/streaming tech (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ, Pub/Sub, SQS/SNS).
  • Define infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Pulumi) and apply cloud-native/serverless patterns where sensible.
  • Raise the bar on cloud security, identity & access, tenant isolation, and data protection.
  • Contribute to system design and architectural decisions; lead by example in code reviews.
  • Coach mid-level engineers and collaborate closely with Product and Customer Success to deliver measurable customer outcomes.

What You Bring

  • 6–10+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on backend and systems design.
  • Strong coding skills in one or more modern languages (e.g., Python, TypeScript/Node, Go, or Java).
  • Hands-on experience with a major cloud (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and container orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes).
  • Solid grasp of databases (SQL/NoSQL), caching, and messaging/streaming systems.
  • Experience building APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures at scale.
  • Familiarity with ETL/ELT workflows, data modeling, and large-scale data processing.
  • Infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, testing strategies, and DevOps tooling experience.
  • Security-first mindset: cloud security fundamentals, IAM, secrets management, and protecting customer data at scale.
  • Observability chops: metrics, tracing, logging, alerting (e.g., Prometheus/Grafana/OpenTelemetry).
  • Business awareness—you balance engineering elegance with customer impact.

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to AI/ML concepts or shipping AI-powered product features.
  • Experience with web crawling/scraping frameworks and anti-fragile collection strategies.
  • Background in data-intensive systems or high-throughput pipelines.
  • Track record in fast-paced startups/scale-ups and roadmap collaboration with Product.
