Software Engineer Intern

OVERVIEW
At athme, we're not just building an app, we're creating a movement.
A movement to make sports spontaneous again. To make meeting teammates as easy as messaging friends. To turn free time into game time.
We're looking for 1–3 Software Engineer Interns (students) to help us ship real features while you complete your study internship.
This is a hands-on product internship with mentorship and a clear learning plan.
This is an early-stage
team
for someone with big energy, sharp thinking, and a heart for community.
If you've ever wanted to take something real and make it remarkable, this is your moment.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Drive day-to-day product development and bring our vision into code.
Contribute to our mobile stack (React Native + + MongoDB) with scoped tasks: small features, bug fixes, QA, and documentation.
Collaborate with the CTO, design, and product team to define how we grow.
Pair program with seniors, participate in code reviews, and learn modern workflows (GitHub, tickets, standups).
Translate product ideas into shipping features, from quick wins to core systems.
Contribute to sprint planning, improve workflows, and make development smoother every day.
Optional focus areas based on your studies: mobile UI, backend APIs, testing/automation, analytics/instrumentation.
WHAT YOU BRING
Currently enrolled in a university program (BSc/MSc) and looking to complete a required internship (preferably in Denmark).
Basic experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and either React (web) or React Native (mobile).
Experience leading or mentoring dev teams in fast-paced, lean environments.
(Nice to have, not required.)
Solid architecture and infrastructure knowledge, you think in systems, not just screens.
(Nice to have.)
A builder's mindset: practical, curious, and focused on shipping quality.
Independent and proactive, you drive clarity without waiting for instructions.
Passion for products that create real-world connection and impact.
Availability: ~10–20 hours/week. Preferred start date: December 1st, 2025.
Portfolio/GitHub or a small project link is a plus.
WHAT WE OFFER
A builder's seat at the table. You won't just write code; you'll influence the product, the platform, and the way people experience sports in real life.
Mentorship from our CTO and senior engineers, with a simple growth plan and weekly feedback.
Real ownership of tech and vision. From architecture to product decisions, your work will shape what we ship, end-to-end.
A startup team that plays like one: fast-moving, feedback-driven, and united by shared goals.
Copenhagen-based preferred (flexible hybrid). Remote within DK possible; occasional in-person meetups are a plus.
A clear mission: to help people move more, connect offline, and find joy through sports, starting now.
Access to practical experience with Agile methodologies, giving you the tools and mindset valued across top tech companies.
The chance to work hands-on with a growing product that's already reaching thousands of users and scaling fast.
Internship certificate/reference upon completion. Potential to transition to a paid role post-funding based on performance.
This is an unpaid internship for now and suitable for study-credit arrangements.
We're all in the same boat: building something we believe in as we grow toward funding.
SOUNDS LIKE YOU?
Send your GitHub, CV, or a quick intro to Let's build something people want to move for.
Please include: university/program, internship period (start/end dates), and weekly availability.
