Senior Product Designer for mobile app for family building

Frederiksberg Municipality Capital Region of, Denmark Y factor Full time €10,700 - €16,200 per year

Join us in designing an easier way to family building
At Y factor, we're improving how people conceive through sperm donation, making it more accessible and personal. We're looking for a Senior Product Designer, who can translate complex user needs into great mobile experiences, that will make a difference in countless lives.

About Y Factor
Conceiving through donation is not an easy journey; going through the traditional system is a highly regulated, time-consuming, impersonal, and expensive process. Many future parents and donors turn to the private market to get control back in their own hands, giving them the chance to meet the other side of the donation. However, today this means you are very much on your own for navigating the journey, and current solutions are chaotic, low quality, and lack safety measures and transparency.

At
Y factor
, we believe something this important deserves better. We are on a mission to turn private sperm donation into a safe, easy, and enabling experience. We're a young startup and our app is freshly launched this summer. With our continuous development efforts to add and improve features, we're adding high complexity to our solution, and we need you to help make sure we give our users the best possible experience.

We are currently a small team of 7 people working on the project, and we follow a hybrid model working both remotely and from our office in Frederiksberg. We value collaboration and social atmosphere as highly as professional performance.

About The Role
We're looking for a Senior Product Designer with good mobile expertise to own and evolve the design of our iOS and Android applications. You'll be taking a leading role in designing our app, bridging the gap between our users' needs and the features we develop for our app, creating experiences that are not just functional but simple to navigate, trustworthy, and engaging.

As our Senior Product Designer, you will work independently to come up with and execute on tasks, but also in close collaboration with our Tech Lead Deyan and the engineering team, as well as our CEO Sofie, who you will report to. We offer a competitive salary based on qualifications and experience.

This is a unique opportunity to shape the design culture of a mission-driven startup from the early stages, with high autonomy and the chance to make a lasting impact on a product that matters.

What You'll Be Doing
If you join Y factor as our Senior Product Designer you'll be tackling unique design problems. We work to create trust in a sensitive, stigmatised space that many people have an opinion about. This makes it critical to find a good balance between user privacy and the need for connection. You need to design a tool that is useful for diverse family structures and cultural backgrounds, simplifying complex legal and medical information into something easily digestable. Your main responsibilities will be:

Leading the design of our mobile app and website

  • Own the full design process - ideation, wireframes, interactive prototypes, implementation, and QA
  • Create and evolve our design system - keep it simple, scalable, and good looking
  • Drive the mobile-first design strategy - improve our complex user flows for profile creation, matching and chatting
  • Develop intuitive information architecture for navigation between user profiles, search filters, and communication
  • Collaborate with engineering - Work closely to bring ideas to life and ensure seamless implementation of designs
  • Lead user research - test prototypes, analyse data, and talk to users to learn how we can improve their experience

Strategic Impact

  • Influence product strategy - turn user insights into clear, actionable design priorities that influence what we build
  • Build trust through design - we deal with sensitive topics, so conveying safety, privacy, and reliability is key
  • Design metrics and KPIs - measure the impact of design decisions on user success

About You
We're looking for a full time colleague based in Copenhagen, who thrives working in startups, knows how to get things done efficiently and has an interest in our mission. We are a small team and spend a lot of time together, so we also value personal chemistry very high. We don't care much about your degree, but we are very interested in learning about your previous work and seeing your skills in action

Must-have Experience

  • 4+ years of product design experience with a strong portfolio demonstrating mobile app expertise with at least 2 shipped mobile products (iOS/Android) that you've designed from concept to launch
  • Strong Figma skills for design, prototyping, and design system management
  • Solid understanding of mobile UX patterns incl. understanding of mobile development constraints and platform specific guidelines (iOS Human Interface Guidelines, Material Design)
  • A great eye for visual details with attention to typography, colour, spacing, and micro interactions
  • Systems thinking approach with ability to create scalable design solutions and component libraries
  • Experience with startup projects and building products with small teams
  • User research capabilities and comfortable conducting interviews, usability testing, and synthesising insights
  • Good communication skills in English (written and spoken) - ability to articulate design decisions to diverse stakeholders
  • Based in Copenhagen and able and willing to come to the office regularly

Nice to Have

  • Experience with B2C and SaaS design
  • Experience in healthcare or other sensitive domains
  • Experience with social, matchmaking, marketplace or two-sided platform design
  • Understanding of the UK and US markets and cultural nuances
