Postdoctoral Researcher for Wellbeing and Virtual Worlds Project

The Department of Design, Media and Educational Science at Syddansk Universitet (SDU) invites applications for a 2-year postdoctoral research position as part of the collaborative research project Wellbeing and Virtual Worlds. This project aims to examine the fundamental premises behind assessments of the quality of life in virtual worlds and contribute to a more nuanced understanding of life in virtual spaces.
Research FocusThe postdoctoral researcher will contribute to the subproject «A theory of wellbeing for virtual and blended spaces». The central task will be to identify and normatively analyze factors that are particularly relevant to wellbeing in online interactions, and to design concepts particularly apt for studying and communicating about digital wellbeing.
Qualifications and ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will have a strong background in practical philosophy, especially wellbeing and value theory, and/or conceptual engineering. They will be expected to contribute to the project's research goals, including joint publications and work related to the empirical parts of the project. The postdoctoral researcher will also have the opportunity to pursue their own special interests within the framework of the project.
Working EnvironmentThe SDU DME Philosophy Section is internationally well-connected and has a strong profile in both basic research and applied philosophy. The section has attracted a substantial amount of external funding in recent years and is strongly involved in interdisciplinary collaboration.
