Do you enjoy collaborating in a dynamic, multinational environment with experts from across various domains? Then you might be interested in joining the Responsible AI Team at Novo Nordisk as a technical expert on subject matters related to responsible AI (e.g., xAI, bias/fairness assessments, adversarial training, robust machine learning, validation strategies, model monitoring, and more). This is a full-time position, primarily located in Ørestaden, with flexible working options.

Behind the title

As an AI Scientist in the Responsible AI Team, you will help ensure that Novo Nordisk is at the forefront when it comes to good machine learning practices that set patient safety and privacy at the center. As a technical subject matter expert, you will help translate legal and regulatory requirements into technical solutions, including ensuring that there are well-established technical guidelines at Novo Nordisk for how to responsibly develop and use AI. You will have a pivotal role in ensuring that the company guidelines translate into operational actions on AI/ML solutions, as well as implementing responsible AI solutions and methods on both a use-case and toolbox level. Novo Nordisk has an established process for addressing legal requirements, and you will additionally take part in some of the focus groups and expert panels that are addressing regulatory requirements around AI/ML.

Your technical expertise will be a key aspect of developing compliant, robust, and effective AI/ML products and solutions throughout Novo Nordisk.

Your key responsibilities will be:

- Assist AI teams across the entire Novo Nordisk value chain with developing and implementing responsible AI techniques and/or methods in specific use cases.
- Participate in developing Novo Nordisk's Responsible AI toolbox with a collection of useful techniques and tools for responsible AI practices.
- Write technical guidelines for how to develop responsible and compliant AI and foster adoption throughout Novo Nordisk.
- Provide technical input and expertise in the design and execution of AI Governance at Novo Nordisk, especially in the context of the EU AI Act, FDA, and EMA.
- Follow research developments within the sub-fields of responsible AI.
- Publish open-access research on methods or subjects within responsible AI.
- Participate in conferences, activities, and talks around the topic of responsible AI both internally and externally.
- You will be working with cutting-edge technology across the Novo Nordisk value chain, from new and innovative drug research to clinical trial optimization, all the way to optimizing production facilities.

Which competencies to bring?

To succeed in this role, we imagine you tick most of the following:

- A master's degree with 2+ years' relevant experience, or a PhD within computer science, applied mathematics, machine learning, or a similar field.
- Hands-on experience with and a strong understanding of AI technologies and their practical implications.
- Technical experience within at least one sub-field of responsible AI methods and knowledge of other sub-areas.
- A strong interest in how to develop robust and effective machine learning products.
- An understanding of, or willingness to learn about, data privacy and AI compliance and regulation. Experience in the pharmaceutical industry is a plus.
- Ability to translate complex technical and regulatory concepts into clear and actionable guidance.

You are driven by a passion to help others, and you want responsibility and freedom. You are a team player and a great listener who thrives on complicated problems.
