The Role

Reporting to the HSE Manager, this person’s primary job will be to set safety standards across Skanstec Engineering’s live projects across Denmark. In collaboration with the Project Management team the HSE Officer will ensure safe working conditions and practices. The successful candidate will fulfil project EH&S requirements using applicable EH&S procedures, tools, and methods (Safety case regime, risk assessment, H&S plans, investigations, reporting).

Role Requirements

  • Understanding of ISO Management Procedures & Implementation.
  • Danish Working Environment Coordinator training (Arbejdsmiljøkoordinator).
  • Relevant degree in construction industry with an electrical or civil engineering background.
  • Team player.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Persuasiveness / Resistance to internal and external pressure.
  • Positive approach that will take the team on the safety journey.
  • Self-motivated / Able to work on their initiative.
  • Enthusiastic and willing to learn.
  • Excellent computer skills - proficiency in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Main Job Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reviewing and approving RAMS in collaboration with the Project Manager, Construction Manager and Site Manager.
  • Promoting awareness of Skanstec Engineering and Customer EH&S requirements on-site and throughout the organisation.
  • Supervise and monitor the on-site employees and subcontractors to ensure their adherence to the EH&S Plan, RAMS etc..
  • Represent the organisation on the project site for any EH&S-related matters.
  • Have the authority to stop any work or activity on the project immediately and instruct and assist the management and any subcontractors in taking urgent action to make the site safe and to prevent unsafe working practices.
  • Carry out EH&S site inspections with site staff to ensure compliance with the EH&S Plan, legal and other requirements, and the customer’s HSE-related contractual requirements.
  • Support incident investigations to determine the root causes and recommend means of preventing recurrence in consultation with Management.
  • Record and analyses information on first aid cases, near misses, injuries, damages and losses and review the overall HSE performance during project execution.
  • Conduct the HSE induction training for employees and subcontractor staff on-site.
