The team
Energy hubs will be the next generation of energy infrastructure assets. They will be critical in enabling cost-efficient deployment of large-scale renewable energy to achieve energy security and to reach ambitious global decarbonization targets, while maintaining cost competitiveness of the energy system. Energy islands, or energy hubs, are multifunctional energy infrastructure projects, involving large-scale renewable energy production integrated with conversion technologies to deliver electrons and molecules to demand centres. Copenhagen Energy Islands (CEI) is a company dedicated to originating and developing these projects.

The position
As a Director you will supervise several teams that work on opportunities in a number of markets. You will oversee the activities in technical, commercial, stakeholder, and financial workstreams; and you will drive our external relationships with partners, advisors, and (non-)governmental organizations.
Your responsibilities will be to:
- Maximize the CEI investment value of the energy hub opportunities you work on
- Coordinate development activities with workstream managers that form part of the project development team
- Build and mature the investment cases for the CEI project you work on
- Own the project financial model and ensure that the model is maintained and used consistently across the projects
- Be the CEI focal point for our (joint venture) partners
- Manage the processes related to joint ventures, fund raising, divestitures, including negotiation of agreements and transaction documents
- Develop insights and high-quality presentations for internal and external stakeholders
- Advise CEI leadership team regarding general corporate matters such as portfolio management and resource allocation considerations
- Support CEI fundraise activities, including managing certain workstreams
- Play an active role in origination of new project opportunities and develop in-depth understanding of target markets
- Help to manage, train and develop the Managers, Associates, and Analysts, and contribute to the positive, professional, and collegiate working environment

The candidate

Key qualifications include:
- 15+ Years of relevant experience from project development or infrastructure investment organizations
- A background in offshore wind, hydrogen, Oil & Gas or other energy development is a plus
- Track record in bringing complex investments successfully to Final Investment Decision
- Knowledge of regulatory environment in the energy sector, and familiar with stakeholder engagement practices to shape desired outcomes
- Corporate Development and M&A knowledge
- Experience in commercial negotiations
- Ability to contribute to the overarching logic of business case when dealing with senior leadership and to step into the detail when discussing project specific aspects
- Experience in rapidly growing teams and businesses as well as exposure to critical governance structures and processes in an international environment is preferable
- Team player with the confidence to exercise judgement appropriately, engaging with colleagues at all levels of seniority
