COMMODITY BROKER

THE ROLE

We have an exciting opportunity for a Commodity Broker to join a dynamic, entrepreneurial and fast-moving broking environment. This diverse role will sit in our newly created Copenhagen office and will suit dynamic individuals who have a passion for the financial markets. You will be personable, tenacious, and a natural networker, having a proactive approach to generating leads and securing new business.

Key responsibilities:

1. Promote FIS as a company, providing market intelligence and analysis to clients.
2. Arrange physical or financial trades via voice broking on behalf of clients for execution at the relevant exchange.
3. Create liquidity and price discovery with entities including Exchanges, SI's, MTF's, clearers, prime brokers, and prop traders.
4. Maintain and create relationships with other brokers when there is no liquidity from Liquidity Providers.
5. Maintain and enhance existing client relationships, making regular contact and tracking daily trading activities.
6. Proactively solicit feedback from industry participants via trade calls, surveys, industry events, trade shows, and conferences.
7. Identify and seize new business opportunities relating to trends, future markets, products, and clients.
8. Produce a daily/weekly report of market prices and market direction for international desks.
9. On-board new clients following correct Compliance and Operations procedures.
10. Regularly assess client needs and financial conditions to identify and pursue internal cross-selling opportunities.
11. Perform any other reasonable duties the company may require.

Training

• Seek regular feedback from Desk Head to ensure role requirements are met.
• Complete any mandatory training required by the company and required deadlines.
• Maintain own Continued Professional Development (CPD).

1. Demonstrate experience in execution brokerage covering commercial clients (financial markets or the physical markets).
2. Deep understanding of price risk management - essential.
3. Willing to travel to visit clients - essential.
4. Robust quantitative, presentation, and decision-making capabilities.
5. Possess knowledge of Commodity markets – essential.
6. Strong client focus; personable and engaging, building relationships and networks wherever possible.
7. Degree in Economics or related degree – essential.
8. Communicate effectively with clients and colleagues - essential.
9. Tenacious and thrives in a pressurised environment – essential.
10. Team orientated; works well with others and diverse groups / personalities – essential.
11. Excellent attention to detail; strong analytical and numeracy skills – essential.
