Head of Data Licensing and LC&I & AWM Sourcing, Group Procurement

Job ID: 27517

We are now looking for an experienced professional to head up one of our sourcing teams and take on the role as the Head of Data Licensing and LC&I & AWM Sourcing.

At Nordea, we see that the world is changing fast – and we want to be one step ahead of the curve. That’s why we’re deeply committed to providing the financial solutions of tomorrow to our customers. We’re creating an agile environment where we experiment and grow together – and we need your ideas and unique background. With us, you’ll be in good company with a chance to make your mark on something bigger.

About this opportunity

Group Procurement owns and executes the full Source to Pay process for the Bank. Group Procurement is part of Group Finance with reference to the Group CFO. We contribute to the Bank’s cost, compliance, and sustainability agenda and play an important role in reaching the targets of the Bank’s 2025 strategy. We engage with our stakeholders to ensure an aligned and strategic view across the Group on how to source the different groups of commodities and manage the sourcing pipeline. In essence, we are accountable for ensuring that all agreements that are entered into are commercially competitive while safeguarding that risk and regulatory requirements are managed.

This is an opportunity for you to work as the value-adding bridge between the internal needs of Nordea business stakeholders and the external supplier market, thereby contributing to the competitiveness and financial targets of Nordea. You will lead a team responsible for all data licensing for Nordea group and category sourcing for Nordea’s Large Corporates & Institutions (LC&I) and Asset & Wealth Management (AWM) businesses.

The day-to-day activities of the team consist of business advisory, active management of data licensing related commercial needs, executing tenders and re-negotiations with external suppliers ranging from low value/low risk engagements to the largest mission-critical partnerships in Nordea. Your working environment will be dynamic, fun, and fast-paced with colleagues across a variety of countries and banking areas.

You will be part of the Sourcing management team and cooperate closely with other teams to achieve the goals of Sourcing and Group Procurement. You will report to the Head of Sourcing located in Finland.

Your future responsibilities

You will lead the Sourcing Unit of 8 highly skilled sourcing managers located in Denmark, Poland, Sweden, and Finland. You will also manage key senior stakeholders and lead the largest and most complex supplier negotiations while ensuring negotiation capabilities are developed and maintained throughout the team.

In brief, you will:

  • Ensure that all Nordea Groups current and future data licensing needs are fulfilled and commercially optimized
  • Build longer-term category strategies together with key business stakeholders
  • Manage the sourcing project pipeline, including opportunity identification in cooperation with business stakeholders and other procurement teams
  • Cooperate closely with market data teams within Nordea
  • Lead a great team of highly skilled sourcing managers, providing them with continuous capability building and development, performance management, setting the direction, and acting as a role model for our values

You will be measured on savings and value generation according to our defined methodology. In addition, you will be measured on stakeholder feedback and process compliance. The role is based in Copenhagen; Helsinki; Stockholm.

Who you are

Collaboration. Ownership. Passion. Courage. These are the four key values that guide us in being at our best. We imagine that you enjoy learning and are excited about bringing your ideas to the table. You’re self-driven, dependable, willing to go the extra mile to achieve our and business stakeholder targets, and committed to empowering others.

We are looking for a pro-active, energetic, and result-driven individual to take our Sourcing team to the next level.

To succeed in this role, you have a superior understanding of data licensing in the financial services industry, and sourcing and contracting processes, from managing efficient operation for low value/low risk engagements to leading the largest and most complex engagements.

This means that you master the complexity behind data usage, commercial models, pricing schemes, business case management, TCO/TVO, etc., and you have a proven track record as a negotiator on strategic and tactical levels.

You have a solid understanding of risk & compliance, e.g., third-party risk management including information security, business continuity, sustainability, etc., and you are able to implement regulations into operational procedures. Finally, it is crucial that you are able to manage your stakeholders efficiently at all organizational levels up to the senior leadership.

Your profile and background:

  • 10+ years of data licensing and procurement experience
  • Experience in managing data licensing for financial services, including regulatory project experience (e.g., MiFID, FRTB, etc.) and risk/audit experience.
  • Good understanding of corporate and institutional banking business and related supplier ecosystem
  • Excellent understanding of end-to-end procurement processes, in particular sourcing and contracting processes, and being fluent in the legal aspects of supplier contracts. Experience in driving business process outsourcing projects is an advantage.
  • Superior negotiation skills both from a theoretical perspective and a proven track record of successfully applying the skill in complex negotiations
  • Solid understanding of risk and compliance, including third-party risk management, hereunder information security, business continuity, sustainability, financial crime, data privacy, etc.
  • Exceptionally strong commercial acumen and ability to think out-of-the-box to achieve our ambitious financial targets
  • Performance mindset and a proven track record of driving a performance culture in a team
  • Experience in international leadership roles or working in an international company with diverse cultures and daily interaction with many different nationalities will be seen as an advantage
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken
  • Degree in Law, Business, Economics, Operations, Supply Chain Management, or similar
