Copenhagen, Copenhagen, Denmark Københavns Universitet (KU) Full time
About the Job

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team at the Department of Neuroscience, University of Copenhagen. The successful candidate will be involved in a project focused on understanding the neural mechanisms of spatial navigation using systems neuroscience and population-level approaches.

The project involves conducting Neuropixels recordings from awake rodents, circuit manipulation, and analyzing spiking data at the population level. This research will take place under the guidance of Dr. Peter C. Petersen at the Petersen Lab.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct independent research of high international quality, including publications and other research outputs.
  • Perform the described project.
  • Collaborate with lab members and other project participants.
  • Assist with student supervision.
About Our Lab

Our laboratory was established in 2022 with the aim of elucidating the neuronal mechanisms underlying memory and cognition. We investigate spatial memory and theta oscillations in behaving rats and how distributed populations of neurons across brain circuits coordinate their dynamics to generate complex cognitive functions in awake rodents.

In particular, we study the interplay between spatial memory and neural oscillations in the brain, with a focus on identifying potential imbalances that may lead to pathological conditions.

Requirements and Qualifications

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with the following competencies and experience:

  • A Ph.D. in Neuroscience or related fields.
  • Experience in electrophysiology.
  • An active interest in brain memory mechanisms.
  • Data analysis skills, particularly with single-cell data.
  • Proficient communication skills and ability to work effectively in teams.
  • Excellent English language skills, both written and spoken.
Benefits and Opportunities

The University of Copenhagen offers an attractive working environment and excellent benefits package, including access to schools, higher education, and health care for free. Additionally, researchers recruited from abroad are eligible for a special researcher tax scheme with a lower tax rate. People moving to Denmark are also entitled to free Danish classes if desired.
