At the KU-CENTER FOR SUNDHED OG SAMFUND, we are seeking a highly motivated researcher to join our team as a Postdoctoral Fellow. This two-year position is an exciting opportunity for a scholar who is passionate about conducting ethnographic field research in rural and urban settings in Tanzania.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be part of the Himili Pamoja research project, which aims to explore climate change adaptation, gender, health, and livelihoods in Tanzania, including Zanzibar. As a Postdoctoral Fellow, you will contribute to the conceptualization and completion of a research project within the four cornerstones of the Himili Pamoja research project. You will also play a role in designing and implementing science communication and engagement with relevant authorities and stakeholders in Tanzania and Denmark.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct ethnographic field research in rural and urban settings in Tanzania
  • Conceptualize and complete a research project within the four cornerstones of the Himili Pamoja research project
  • Design and implement science communication and engagement with relevant authorities and stakeholders in Tanzania and Denmark
  • Co-supervise PhD students and occasionally facilitate teaching within educational programmes of the section

We are looking for a scholar who is enthusiastic about working in an interdisciplinary environment and has experience with ethnographic research approaches, social science theory, and qualitative research software.

Requirements
  • PhD within social sciences, preferably anthropology with specialization in medical anthropology/anthropology of health
  • Experience with ethnographic research approaches and social science theory
  • Qualitative research software skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both in academic writing and speaking English
  • Familiarity with Swahili is an advantage
