About the Job

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced postdoctoral researcher to join our team at Danmarks Tekniske Universitet (DTU) to work on developing relationships between fungal traits important for the food production of tomorrow and their genome. The successful candidate will be responsible for independently planning, executing, and interpreting scientific experiments in close collaboration and communication within the research group and with collaborators in Denmark and abroad.

About the Research Group

The research group is part of the Department of Biotechnology and Biomedicine at DTU and focuses on the development of novel food products using filamentous fungi. The group has a strong track record of publishing high-impact papers and has established collaborations with industry partners.

About the Project

The project aims to understand the relationship between fungal phenotypes and genotypes in regards to relevant features for future food production. The successful candidate will work on designing and executing experiments to investigate the genetic basis of fungal traits and their impact on food production.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

  • Design and execute experiments to investigate the genetic basis of fungal traits
  • Analyze and interpret data from experiments
  • Collaborate with the research group and collaborators to achieve project goals
  • Keep up-to-date with the scientific literature and entrepreneurial as well as IP landscape
  • Disseminate knowledge through supervision of students and presentations at scientific conferences and workshops

Requirements

  • PhD degree in a relevant field (e.g. mycology, food science, biotechnology)
  • Experience in genetic engineering of filamentous fungi
  • Bioinformatics background
  • Laboratory experience with mycology
  • Ideal: interest or experience in culinary work
  • Enthusiasm, motivation, and dedication to research
  • Strong communication skills when writing up and presenting scientific results
  • Ability to work independently, to conceptualize research findings, and to build and maintain scientific collaborations

Salary and Terms of Employment

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
