Fungal Researcher: Exploring Phenotype Genotype Relationships in Novel Foods

Filamentous fungi hold significant potential for aiding the green transition of our diets. They can utilize side streams and convert them into delicious foods or be utilized as cell factories to produce food components. We aim to gain a better understanding of the relationship between fungal phenotypes and genotypes regarding features crucial for future food production.
Key ResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible for independently planning, executing, and interpreting scientific experiments in close collaboration and communication within the research group and with international collaborators. It is expected that you will stay updated on the scientific literature and the entrepreneurial and IP landscape. You will also have the opportunity to disseminate your knowledge through supervision of students and presentations at scientific conferences and workshops.
Qualifications and Requirements- Experience in genetic engineering of filamentous fungi
- Bioinformatics background
- Laboratory experience with mycology
- Ideal: interest or experience in culinary work
- Enthusiasm, motivation, and dedication to research
- Strong communication skills when writing and presenting scientific results
- Ability to work independently, conceptualize research findings, and build and maintain scientific collaborations
- PhD degree or equivalent
