Postdoctoral Researcher in Urban Development
3 days ago
The Department of Food and Resource Economics at the University of Copenhagen invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher position in Urban Development. The project, part of the research initiative Urban Frontiers, is directed by Professor Christian Lund. This 3-year position is funded by the European Research Council.
The world is undergoing the largest wave of urban growth in human history. However, no land seen as future cities in the Global South is vacant. Land users, social movements, squatters, and developers make their land use look legal. Urban property development in the Global South often starts out illegally and becomes legal subsequently. Our project investigates how land is accessed, coded, and controlled in urban peripheries.
We seek candidates with a PhD degree in anthropology, development studies, economics, geography, political science, sociology, or similar fields. Key qualifications include:
- Professional qualifications relevant to the research project.
- Relevant work experience with qualitative research methods.
- Familiarity with quantitative research methods.
- Curious and collaborative mind-set.
- A strong interest in dynamics of social change.
- Knowledge of the proposed country.
- Relevant language capabilities.
