**Company Background**

The Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland (GEUS) is a leading institution for geoscientific research and expertise in Denmark and Greenland. Our research focuses on understanding the Earth's processes and natural resources, with a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary collaboration.

We are seeking a talented postdoctoral researcher to join our Department of Glaciology and Climate, which is dedicated to studying past climate and ecosystem changes in the Arctic region. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic research group investigating changes in the Arctic cryosphere and ecosystems.

Research Objectives:

  • Investigate the impacts of past climate oscillations on microbial diversity and composition in the deep biosphere.
  • Examine the microbiome's influence on biogeochemical cycles in Arctic marine sediments.
  • Study the influence of the living microbial community on the preservation potential of marine sedimentary ancient DNA.

Requirements:

  • PhD degree in Biology, Microbiology, Geosciences, Environmental Sciences, or related disciplines.
  • Experience in molecular genetic lab work and bioinformatic analysis.
  • Familiarity with marine ecosystems, the deep biosphere, or marine microbiomes.
