Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated PhD researcher to join our team at the Department of Biology, University of Southern Denmark. The successful candidate will be part of the Sound Communication and Behaviour Group and will work on a project focused on motor control and biomechanics of sound production across vertebrates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research on motor control and biomechanics of sound production using a combination of experimental and computational approaches.
  • Develop and implement new methods from biomechanics, electrophysiology, acoustics, and behaviour at different levels of organization.
  • Collaborate with the research team to design and conduct experiments, collect and analyze data, and interpret results.
  • Contribute to the development of the research project and participate in the dissemination of science through conferences and teaching.
  • Complete a study program of 30 ECTS points and participate in the PhD program at the University of Southern Denmark.
Requirements
  • Recent MSc degree in biology or engineering, preferably with a background in neuroscience, bioacoustics, or biomechanics.
  • Experience in signal analysis and programming (Python, R, Matlab, or equivalent).
  • Excellent written and oral English language communication skills.
  • Strong communication and collaborative skills.
  • Interest in working in an interdisciplinary environment paired with excellent social skills.
