Postdoctoral Position in Law or Sociology of Law: Investigating Non-Muslim Islam

Copenhagen, Copenhagen, Denmark Københavns Universitet Full time

**Company Overview:** The University of Copenhagen is a prestigious institution seeking highly qualified candidates for a postdoctoral position within the Faculty of Law. Our research project, 'Non-Muslim Islam', aims to explore the concept of non-Muslim Islam and its presence in Danish law.

**Salary:** We offer a competitive salary, with an estimated annual gross salary of approximately **5,200,000 DKK (around $770,000 USD)**, based on a full-time employment contract, including an annual supplement and a contribution to your pension fund equal to 17.1% of your salary.

**Job Description:** As a postdoctoral researcher, you will be responsible for executing Work Package 2, entitled 'The Legal System', of the 'Non-Muslim Islam' project. You will work alongside our Principal Investigator, Associate Professor Jesper Petersen, to test the hypothesis that non-Muslim Islam has a significant presence in Danish law. This involves mapping the reduction of Islamic semiotic resources used in media debate, parliamentary debate, committee discussions, preparatory legal work, and finally, in law proposals passed by parliament.

**Required Skills and Qualifications:** To succeed in this role, you will require a PhD, JSD, or equivalent degree in law or sociology of law. Fluency in Danish is essential, as you will be working closely with Danish courts at all levels and in the European Court of Human Rights. Your excellent research skills, coupled with strong methodological tools, will enable you to investigate the two research areas described in the job description.

**Benefits:** As a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Copenhagen, you will have access to state-of-the-art facilities, a vibrant academic community, and opportunities for professional development. You will also receive a generous benefits package, including an annual supplement and a contribution to your pension fund.

**Others:** If you are passionate about exploring the intersection of law and humanities, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity. Please note that applications must include the required supporting documents, listed below.
