PhD Fellowship in Ecological Interactions
2 weeks ago
In this role, you will have the opportunity to design and conduct experiments involving plants, fungi, and insects, as well as analyze data using molecular techniques and analytical methods of chemical ecology. You will also be responsible for quantifying volatile organic compounds emitted from fungal-inoculated plants and assessing aphid microbial communities. To succeed in this position, you should possess a strong educational background in biology, biotechnology, agronomy, or a related field and relevant work experience in experimental biological systems, entomology, plant science, microbiology, chemical ecology, community ecology, DNA/RNA-based molecular techniques, or a combination of these areas. Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken, are essential for effective collaboration and dissemination of research findings.
As a member of our team, you will have access to modern laboratories, insect, plant, and microbiology rearing facilities, climate chambers, and computational resources. You will also have the chance to collaborate with international research institutions and participate in conferences and workshops. The successful candidate will be supervised by Associate Professor Nicolai V. Meyling and will have the opportunity to work closely with a postdoc to be hired at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. The PhD fellow will spend approximately 6 months at the Alnarp campus during the 3-year period.
