At Københavns Universitet, we are dedicated to advancing knowledge and understanding through innovative research. Our faculty of SCIENCE is a hub for interdisciplinary research, fostering collaboration and excellence in various fields.
Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated PhD fellow to investigate the intricate interactions between plants, microorganisms, and insects in our Insect-Microbe Interactions research group. The project will focus on understanding the mechanisms and consequences of microbial-induced resistance on trophic interactions and biocontrol efficacy. As a researcher in this field, you will have the opportunity to explore the ecological effects of fungi colonizing plant rhizospheres and tissues as endophytes in different crop plants.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should possess a strong educational background in biology, biotechnology, agronomy, or a related field. Relevant work experience in experimental biological systems, entomology, plant science, microbiology, chemical ecology, community ecology, DNA/RNA-based molecular techniques, or a combination of these areas is highly desirable. Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken, are essential for effective collaboration and dissemination of research findings.
Benefits
Københavns Universitet offers a dynamic and inclusive work environment with opportunities for professional growth and development. As a member of our team, you will have access to state-of-the-art research facilities, climate chambers, insect, plant, and microbiology rearing facilities, and computational resources. Additionally, you will have the chance to collaborate with international research institutions and participate in conferences and workshops.
Others
The successful candidate will be supervised by Associate Professor Nicolai V. Meyling and will have the opportunity to work closely with a postdoc to be hired at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. The PhD fellow will spend approximately 6 months at the Alnarp campus during the 3-year period.
