Postdoctoral Researcher: Quantum Computing and Materials Science

Job Summary:
The Postdoctoral Researcher will contribute to advancing superconducting and semiconducting quantum computing platforms towards scalable fault-tolerant quantum computing. This role will focus on improving qubits and related quantum processor performance with a particular emphasis on material quality/choice and novel fabrication and packaging development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct device fabrication, device and materials characterization, and analysis.
- Develop novel fabrication and characterization methods, including in-situ characterization and fabrication techniques, and advanced chip designs.
- Document and communicate results through peer-reviewed journal publications and oral presentations, including participation in meetings, conferences, and reviews.
- Foster collaboration between the Molecular Foundry and the Novo Nordisk Quantum Computing Program.
Requirements:
- Ph.D. in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Strong experience with fabrication and characterization of qubit platforms.
- Strong interest in understanding material science aspects of qubit performance.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with students and postdocs.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and multitasking skills.
Terms and Conditions:
This is a full-time, 3-year postdoctoral appointment with the possibility of renewal based on satisfactory job performance, continuing availability of funds, and ongoing operational needs.
The position is open from 1 November 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter.
