The University of Copenhagen is seeking a highly skilled researcher to join the Novo Nordisk Quantum Computing Programme (NQCP) at the Niels Bohr Institute. As an Assistant Professor in Quantum Optics, Atomic Physics and Materials Science, you will play a crucial role in advancing quantum materials growth with unprecedented precision, cleanliness, and purity.
Job DescriptionWe are looking for a motivated candidate with a PhD degree in Physics, Nano-Science, or Electrical Engineering, specializing in Atomic Physics, Laser Physics, Optics, Quantum Optics, Materials Science, or Crystal Growth. The successful candidate will have strong experimental and computational skills, a passion for experimental setup building, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic research environment.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and engage in collaborative research to refine crystal growth techniques for quantum applications.
- Design and implement UHV apparatus and control systems for crystal growth and quantum circuit fabrication.
- Work closely with interdisciplinary teams to innovate MBE processes.
The position offers collaboration with all other teams at NQCP, including the Tools Development Team, Platform Integration Teams, Characterization Team, and the Quantum Foundry. You will also have the opportunity to design UHV apparatuses and control systems for sophisticated crystal growth, incorporating quantum optics and atomic physics techniques.
Required Skills and Qualifications- PhD degree in Physics, Nano-Science, or Electrical Engineering.
- Specialization in Atomic Physics, Laser Physics, Optics, Quantum Optics, Materials Science, or Crystal Growth.
- Strong experimental and computational skills.
- Passion for experimental setup building.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic research environment.
The salary for this position is estimated to be around DKK 590,000 per year, which is approximately USD 88,000 based on current exchange rates. This is a full-time position, working 37 hours per week on average, with flexible working hours. The anticipated start date is March 1, 2025, or as soon as possible thereafter.
