At DTU - Technical University of Denmark, we are committed to developing innovative solutions for a sustainable future. Our research focuses on functional materials and their application in energy technologies, with the aim of converting and storing energy efficiently.

The Department of Energy Conversion and Storage is dedicated to understanding the principles behind direct conversion and storage of different forms of energy. This includes the development of technologies and materials that enable efficient energy conversion and storage.

We are seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join our team and contribute to this exciting research area. As a researcher in this project, you will design and synthesize innovative materials for direct CO2 capture and conversion, exploring pathways for direct capturing and utilizing CO2, transforming it into valuable products such as methanol, ethanol, and other C2+ compounds.

Your main responsibility will be to develop new materials with integrated carbon capture and utilization capabilities, utilizing H-cell, flow cell, and membrane electrode assembly (MEA) cell systems. You will work closely with our experienced researchers to optimize the physicochemical properties of these materials, enhancing their stability and performance for CCU applications.

To succeed in this role, you will require a strong background in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or related fields. Experience in experimental catalysis synthesis and reactor engineering design would be an asset. Basic knowledge of Python, particularly for data analysis and automation, is desirable. You must also demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.

In addition to your technical expertise, you will benefit from working in a multidisciplinary project that involves diverse methodologies and potentially developing new techniques as required. You will have access to various prototype test facilities available at DTU Energy, enabling you to assess the efficiency of the synthesized materials.
