About the Position

This three-year PhD position is part of an exciting project that aims to develop new solid-state battery technologies. You will be working closely with our team to design, synthesize, and characterize novel materials for advanced energy storage applications.
Main Responsibilities:
- Material Synthesis and Characterization: Develop and optimize methods for synthesizing inorganic materials using solid-state synthesis techniques. Perform structural analysis using Rietveld refinement of powder diffraction data.
- Electrochemical Evaluation: Carry out electrochemical characterization of materials, including Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy analysis of ionic conductivity and charge/discharge of full solid-state battery cells.
- Structural and Morphological Analysis: Perform structural, thermal, and morphological characterization of synthesized materials using powder diffraction, thermal analysis (TG, DSC), electron microscopy (SEM and TEM), etc.
- In Situ and Operando Studies: Conduct in situ and operando studies using synchrotron X-ray diffraction and imaging.
- Research Publication and Presentation: Disseminate research results through publications and presentations at international conferences.
The project involves collaboration with the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), and a research stay at NTNU will be expected as part of the position.
We expect candidates to have experience in inorganic materials synthesis and structural analysis from X-ray diffraction data using Rietveld refinement. Additionally, experience in assembling and electrochemically characterizing rechargeable battery cells and expertise in all-solid-state batteries will be beneficial.
The successful candidate will be enrolled in one of the general degree programs at DTU, subject to academic approval.
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.
