Join us as we harness cutting-edge technologies and unlock opportunities on a global scale, working towards a brighter, more sustainable future with Maersk.

About the role:

Maersk Energy Markets acts as the sourcing arm for Maersk, handling fuel and energy supply, storage, purchase, and delivery. Our department manages approximately 11 million metric tons of fuel purchases annually, including green fuels like biofuel and methanol.

Fuel is one of Maersk's main operating costs; therefore, Energy Markets focuses on optimizing it through various channels, including blending, tolling, and barging. We are a diverse team of talented professionals, traders, and industry experts committed to reaching Maersk's net-zero target by 2040.

The Fuel Supply Planning team ensures cutting-edge optimization tools connect to the physical world, enabling every Maersk vessel to refuel optimally. You will be an integral part of this team, responsible for optimizing overall fuel planning for the Maersk Ocean fleet.

You will utilize your technical expertise to link day-to-day operations with available software solutions, ensuring they meet business needs. As regulations around greener fuels evolve, you will stay informed and adapt optimization logic accordingly, collaborating with stakeholders to effectively change the process.

Key responsibilities:

Your primary focus will be to ensure day-to-day fuel supply optimization runs smoothly. You will troubleshoot issues when necessary, collaborating with various stakeholders. The BOPS (Bunker Optimization Planning System) algorithm minimizes overall fuel cost while adhering to operational constraints.

You will work closely with mathematical and IT team members to ensure optimization logic fits real-world requirements.

What we offer:

  • An exciting position at the center of action in Energy Markets, based in Copenhagen.
  • The chance to join a department actively working to decarbonize shipping, ensuring Maersk reaches its net-zero target by 2040.
  • A broad network of stakeholders within Maersk, all working together to solve complex challenges.
  • An inclusive team dedicated to delivering best-in-class results while having fun.

Key tasks:

  • Connect technical operational possibilities and limitations with software solutions offered by the Fuel Supply Planning team.
  • Support day-to-day operational processes surrounding BOPS to ensure a robust system with high optimization integrity.
  • Ensure bunker plans for all Maersk Ocean vessels are realistic, operationally executable, and at the lowest possible cost.
  • Act as first- and second-line support to users of our applications across Maersk.
  • Understand the entire bunker process flow for different fuel types, from planning through to bunkering.
  • Ensure new rules and regulations related to emissions are included in BOPS optimization logic.
  • Foster collaboration with other departments within Maersk to ensure overall tech capabilities are fully utilized.

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of work experience in a matrixed organization dealing with diverse multicultural stakeholders.
  • Strong experience in Vessel Management, specifically with a technical understanding of fuel transfer and service systems on commercial vessels.
  • Understanding and experience in dealing with different fuel grade specifications such as ISO:8217.
  • Seafaring experience is preferred but can be compensated with other strong related experience.
  • An energetic, proactive, commercially-minded individual who is familiar with operating in a fast-paced environment and enjoys solving complex challenges.
  • A passion for sustainability, particularly in decarbonization and fostering an inclusive workplace culture.
  • Any IT technical knowledge will be considered a plus.
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English.

Estimated salary: 80,000 - 110,000 USD per year, depending on location and experience. This estimate is based on industry standards and market rates.

Note that salaries may vary depending on individual qualifications, experience, and performance. We strive to provide competitive compensation packages that recognize and reward outstanding contributions.
