The Role:

This position is a key player within the engineering leadership team that sets engineering benchmarks, influences technology choices, and nurtures engineering talent. As a Principal Engineer, you will collaborate closely with senior engineers, executives, and product management across the organization to tackle intricate challenges and deliver essential services that operate seamlessly on a global scale. A Principal Engineer serves as a technology authority in all facets of their responsibilities and exemplifies best practices in designing and managing our omni-channel technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and enhance enterprise architectural frameworks to boost agility and responsiveness to business needs. Design and implement solutions that integrate effortlessly with current systems and infrastructure, utilizing modern tools and open technologies. Lead cross-disciplinary teams in executing technology strategies, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and fostering continuous improvement. Act as a thought leader in embracing new technologies and frameworks, conducting research, and assessing emerging trends to keep our architecture prepared for the future. Collaborate with stakeholders throughout the organization to translate business requirements into technical actions and achievable objectives. Mentor junior architects and engineers, promoting a culture of innovation and ongoing learning within the team. Contribute to open-source initiatives, community projects, and engineering standards.

What you'll bring:

Demonstrated experience as a Principal Engineer or in a comparable leadership role within enterprise architecture, ideally in a large-scale retail or similar industry. Expertise in contemporary architectural frameworks, toolsets, and open-source technologies (Kafka, API gateways, Kubernetes). Proficiency in various programming languages, including Java or .NET. Comprehensive understanding of software engineering best practices, including agile and DevOps methodologies. Experience working with major Public Cloud Providers like Azure and GCP, including utilizing Infrastructure-as-Code. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on data-driven decision-making. Effective communication and leadership skills, with experience managing teams in dynamic settings. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline. (Optional) Experience in retail or marketing technologies (Martech).
