As a Principal Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our technological framework and leading our engineering standards.

Role Overview:

This position is integral to the engineering leadership team, responsible for establishing engineering protocols, guiding technology choices, and nurturing engineering talent. In this capacity, you will collaborate with senior engineers, executives, and product management to tackle intricate challenges and deliver essential services that operate efficiently on a global scale. A Principal Engineer exemplifies technological leadership in all facets of their responsibilities, particularly in designing and managing our omni-channel technology services.

Key Responsibilities:

Formulate and enhance enterprise architectural frameworks to improve agility and responsiveness to business needs. Design and execute solutions that integrate flawlessly with current systems and infrastructure, utilizing contemporary tools and open technologies. Lead cross-disciplinary teams in the implementation of technology strategies, ensuring alignment with business goals and fostering continuous improvement. Act as a thought leader in the adoption of new technologies and frameworks, conducting research and assessing emerging trends to ensure our architecture remains forward-thinking. Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to translate business requirements into technical actions and achievable objectives. Mentor junior architects and engineers, promoting a culture of innovation and ongoing learning within the team. Contribute to open-source initiatives, community projects, and engineering standards.

Qualifications:

Demonstrated experience as a Principal Engineer or in a comparable leadership role within enterprise architecture, ideally in a large-scale retail or related sector. Expertise in modern architectural frameworks, toolsets, and open-source technologies (such as Kafka, API gateways, Kubernetes). Proficiency in various programming languages, including Java or .NET. Comprehensive understanding of software engineering best practices, including agile and DevOps methodologies. Experience working with major Public Cloud Providers like Azure and GCP, including the use of Infrastructure-as-Code. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a capacity for data-driven decision-making. Effective communication and leadership skills, with experience managing teams in dynamic settings. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline. (Optional) Familiarity with retail or marketing technologies (Martech).
