Research Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced research scientist to join our team at the Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences.

The successful candidate will work on a postdoctoral project focusing on biochar catalyzed degradation of halogenated pollutants.

The project involves developing and testing biochar-oxidant composites, assessing performance of optimized reaction systems, and comparing performance of optimized reaction system to existing remediation technologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Laboratory experiments and field investigations
  • Teaching and other duties

Requirements:

  • PhD degree in environmental chemistry, geochemistry, soil science, or related disciplines
  • Strong knowledge of interface and redox chemistry
  • Experience with physical and chemical analyses of soils
  • Use of advanced characterisation tools for material bulk and surface characterisation
  • Analytical chemical skills
  • Competences within data management, data processing and statistical analysis
  • Good interpersonal skills, experience with collaborative work in larger multinational teams
  • Excellent English writing and speaking abilities
