We're looking for a Principal Product Manager - Cars to join our team. As a key member, you'll be responsible for shaping the Cars product experience, user journey, and roadmap across all platforms. This role offers a unique opportunity to drive innovation and growth in the travel industry.

About the Role

  • Product Ownership: Own the Cars product experience, user journey, and roadmap, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical feasibility.
  • User Problem Definition: Identify and prioritize user problems and needs, considering multiple brands, locales, and languages.
  • Requirements Crafting: Define requirements that facilitate meaningful product improvements, weighing impact against business goals and technical feasibility.
  • Cars Expertise: Cultivate knowledge of partner inventory, data accuracy complexities, booking options, and how KAYAK can make it easier to find and book the right car.
  • Relationship Building: Establish strong relationships with internal and external partners, working closely with them to understand needs and motivations.
  • Insight Analysis: Measure and analyze insights from product changes, chasing impact against key metrics and opportunities revealed by data, user research, and A/B experiment results.
  • Feedback Collection: Work with customer support and UX to collect feedback from and respond to users.
  • Competitive Landscape Monitoring: Stay informed about the latest capabilities across multiple platforms and the travel and e-commerce spaces, particularly within Cars.

About You

  • Education: Undergraduate degree in computer science, engineering, finance, economics, or related field. MBA preferred.
  • Experience: 10+ years of proven experience in product management, with a preference for candidates with experience in Cars and/or Travel and a proven track record of growth in responsibilities.
  • Leadership Presence: Strong leadership presence with exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Technical Communication: Proven ability to articulate a team vision and translate technical concepts into broadly understood material.
  • e-Commerce Background: A consumer mentality and an e-commerce or B2C background – bonus points if you're a regular traveler as well.
  • Ambiguity Navigation: Ability to navigate ambiguity and organizational complexities, moving seamlessly from high-level strategy to detailed problem-solving.
  • Market-Driven Approach: Market-driven approach with a strong understanding of best-in-class companies in e-commerce, cars, and travel.
  • Data-Driven Decision-Making: Demonstrated experience in data-motivated decision-making and project management.
