Highly Motivated Scientist for Advanced Pharmacogenomics Research
11 hours ago
The Department of Drug Design and Pharmacology at the University of Copenhagen invites applications for a Postdoctoral position in Molecular Pharmacology. As part of our research group, you will contribute to an ambitious project funded by the Independent Research Fund Denmark, Sapere Aude, titled "Pleiotropic effects — from drug targets to drug actions".
This 3-year project aims to characterize the interplay between naturally occurring variations in prominent drug targets and clinical phenotypes for personalized target and treatment selection using pharmacogenomics. You will work closely with Associate Professor Alexander S. Hauser and other team members to achieve this goal.
The Hauser group focuses on harnessing biomedical data in genomics, structural biology, and pharmacology to tackle complex questions in the GPCR field. We aim to link genetic receptor variations with receptor function, disease, and drug treatment efficacy, paving the way for personalized medicine.
As a Postdoc in our group, you will be responsible for the molecular pharmacological characterization of G protein-coupled receptor genetic variants in recombinant cell lines. You will utilize state-of-the-art assays and technologies to generate and analyze high-dimensional datasets, providing novel insights into personalized medicine.
To achieve this, you will develop and optimize a robust pipeline to efficiently characterize the effects of multiple drugs across diverse genetic variants. This pipeline will serve as a critical tool for the broader scientific community, enabling more accurate predictions of drug efficacy and safety based on genetic profiles.
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with a strong profile within molecular pharmacology of GPCRs. Essential requirements include a PhD in pharmacology, pharmaceutical sciences or related science, experience in mammalian cell culture, assay development, and molecular pharmacological characterization of membrane receptors.
Beyond technical expertise, we value proficient communication skills, ability to work in interdisciplinary teams, and excellent English language skills. Desirable qualifications include experience in supervising students and research personnel, large-scale data analysis, and application of FRET- and BRET-based approaches.
The University of Copenhagen offers a stimulating working environment with modern laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art instruments. Our faculty provides access to advanced research infrastructure and expertise that may be relevant to the project.
The position is a fixed-term position limited to a period of 3 years. The average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week. Salary, pension, and other conditions of employment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant organisation.
