Associate Professor in Peptide and Protein Medicinal Chemistry

The University of Copenhagen is seeking a highly qualified Associate Professor to join the Department of Drug Design and Pharmacology. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research in peptide ligand discovery, biochemical and biophysical characterization of peptides and proteins, and investigations of protein folding.
The Associate Professor will contribute to strengthening interdisciplinary research and education at the Department, with a focus on biopharmaceutical studies of peptide ligands that target protein function. The position involves research, teaching, and leadership responsibilities, as well as engagement in outreach and innovation activities.
The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of scientific research, teaching experience, and a clear vision for their research program. They will also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research in peptide ligand discovery, biochemical and biophysical characterization of peptides and proteins, and investigations of protein folding
- Teach and develop research-based courses in relevant fields within the Department's education activities
- Lead research projects and supervise researchers
- Engage in outreach and innovation activities, both within the Department and broadly towards academia, the clinic, and industry
- Attract external funding and share knowledge with the surrounding society
- Participate in academic assessments and contribute to the development of the Department's research strategy
Requirements:
- PhD in a relevant field, such as medicinal chemistry, biochemistry, or pharmacology
- Strong track record of scientific research, including publications and presentations
- Teaching experience and a clear vision for their research program
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience with biophysical protein characterization, in vitro and cell-based assays
- Track record of attracting external funding and innovation
- Experience in development and conduction of research-based teaching
