Technical Leadership Role

This role involves leading a team of engineers, contributing to the success of the team by promoting excellent engineering and delivery practices. The successful candidate will be responsible for guiding their direct reports in becoming skilled professionals, enabling them to deliver high-quality software to customers while fostering a world-class engineering culture.
Responsibilities- Team Management: Maintain a positive relationship between yourself, product peers, and your team, ensuring the team's delivery pipeline is flowing at a predictable pace.
- Delivery Systems: Ensure accurate, fit-for-purpose delivery systems exist in your team, providing informed estimates, delivery forecasting, capacity planning, and associated reporting.
- Product Health: Understand and advocate the Planday Engineering Standards, ensuring the health of all team products is well understood by the team and discoverable by the wider organisation.
- Development Roadmaps: Work with peers in Product and your team to develop roadmaps and plans that effectively and efficiently deliver business outcomes.
- Engineering Expertise: Maintain a current knowledge of engineering technologies used in the development of Planday software applications, staying up-to-date with emerging engineering practices, techniques, and frameworks.
- Troubleshooting: Collaborate with engineers and other teams to troubleshoot and resolve production issues, ensuring post-incident learnings are collected and actioned.
- Coach and Enable: Coach and enable your team toward effective and efficient delivery.
- Culture and Communication: Foster an inclusive and positive team culture, keeping the team's vision and values at the forefront of decision-making, communicating expectations clearly, and having an open mind to change opinions.
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrate honesty and integrity, provide objectives and goals with loose guidelines/directions, and have outstanding communication and time management skills.
- Self-Awareness and Empathy: Be self-aware, self-regulated, motivated, and empathetic, with great interpersonal skills.
- Learning and Development: Utilize software delivery expertise to offer the right knowledge, at the right time, in the right way, understanding why and how people learn, and demonstrating a love of learning and resilience to adversity.
- Xero Engineering Standards: Have a good understanding of the importance of Xero's Engineering standards and practices and be able to coach teams to adhere to them.
- Objectives and Goals: Provide objectives and goals with loose guidelines/directions, clearly communicate expectations, and have an open mind to change opinions.
