Copenhagen, Copenhagen, Denmark Københavns Universitet Full time
Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team at the University of Copenhagen. The successful candidate will be involved in a research project focusing on the effects of insect herbivory on volatile organic compound emissions from plants.

Company Overview

The position is available in the Ecosystem-Atmosphere Interactions Research Group, part of the new Center for Volatile Interactions (VOLT) at Københavns Universitet. Our group uses cutting-edge techniques, such as PTR-TOF-MS and GC-MS, to study plant VOC emissions and their exchange at the ecosystem scale.

Job Summary

The postdoc will participate in ongoing measurements of VOCs and CO2 using eddy covariance techniques, coupled with remote sensing of vegetation phenology. They will also have the opportunity to conduct branch/stem/forest floor measurements and contribute to modeling efforts. Data processing, interpretation, and statistical analyses will form a primary task for the postdoc.

Required Skills and Qualifications

We are looking for ambitious candidates with a PhD in biology/ecology, physical geography, meteorology, chemistry, or a related field. Fluency in written and spoken English is required, as well as excellent writing skills demonstrated by a strong publication record. Experience with eddy covariance measurements or plant VOC measurements using GC-MS or PTR-MS techniques is highly desirable.

Salary and Benefits

The position comes with an estimated annual salary of approximately €60,000-€80,000, depending on qualifications and experience. Additionally, the university offers attractive benefits, including a comprehensive health insurance package and access to a state-of-the-art research infrastructure.

Working Environment

The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic research team working on cutting-edge projects in the field of plant ecology and atmospheric science. The group is located in Copenhagen, Denmark, and collaboration opportunities exist with international partners.

How to Apply

To apply, please submit your application electronically, including a cover letter, curriculum vitae, list of publications, and pdf files of two most important publications. The deadline for applications is not specified, but we encourage interested candidates to apply as soon as possible.
