Climate Research Scientist

We are seeking a skilled Climate Research Scientist to join our team at the National Center for Climate Research (NCKF) in Denmark.
The successful candidate will work on climate modelling with a focus on the polar regions and ice sheet surface mass balance. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to critical climate research and green transition efforts in the Kingdom of Denmark.
About the Job
We are looking for a highly motivated researcher with a strong background in climate science, meteorology or related fields. The ideal candidate will have experience with regional atmospheric modelling, numerical weather prediction, Earth system modelling, and/or surface mass balance modelling. Additionally, they should possess advanced programming skills, including Linux/Unix and scripting languages such as Python and Fortran.
Responsibilities
The Climate Research Scientist will be responsible for designing and executing model experiments, developing model code, and analyzing output data. They will also collaborate with colleagues to develop new grant applications and publish scientific papers. As part of NCKF, you will work closely with national and international partners to advance climate knowledge and support green transition.
About You
We are looking for a candidate with a PhD degree in climate science, meteorology or a related field. Relevant experience working with polar climate models is an advantage. Good communication skills in oral and written English are essential.

Benefits
This full-time position offers a competitive salary of approximately €60,000-€80,000 per year, depending on previous experience. Additional benefits include a flexible working week, six weeks of paid vacation annually, and opportunities for professional development and career advancement.
