The WaterColor project at the National Institute of Aquatic Resources at DTU Aqua is seeking a PhD candidate to investigate marine microbial carbon cycling in Greenlandic waters.

Climate change is causing rapid changes in the Arctic and Greenland, making them key indicators of climate change. Understanding these processes is crucial for predicting future scenarios in this remote region.

This multidisciplinary project involves field observations, experimental work, and data analysis. You will lead the preparation of scientific publications and share your research findings with professional audiences at conferences.

The position involves research, publication, computational, and laboratory work, with the possibility of joining planned expeditions to Greenlandic waters. As a PhD student at DTU, it is mandatory to take courses of a duration of 30 ECTS during the 3-year period.

A background in marine sciences is preferred, and experience with field and laboratory work is an asset. The ideal candidate has knowledge in microbial carbon cycling, strong communication skills in English, and proficiency in programming languages and software tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, Python, R, etc.

The assessment of applicants will be made by Researcher Rafael Gonçalves Araujo and Professor Colin A. Stedmon.

Danish Confederation of Professional Associations regulations will apply to the appointment.

DTU offers a rewarding and challenging job in an international environment, striving for academic excellence in a setting characterized by collegial respect and academic freedom tempered by responsibility.
