A position as Research Scientist in Oceanic Ecosystems is available within the Department of Biology at the University of Copenhagen. We seek a highly motivated scientist to contribute to our research on the importance of bacterioplankton and phytoplankton interactions for VOC production/emission. The appointment is for 2 years, starting December 1st, 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Key qualifications include a PhD in marine microbial ecology or a related field, fluency in English, and a strong publication record. Experience in molecular community analyses, aquatic microbial ecology, and cultivation of bacteria and phytoplankton is desirable.

Job description: The Research Scientist will conduct field and experimental work, cultivate microorganisms, and perform molecular analyses to understand VOC fluxes associated with marine plankton. The scientist will lead-writing and co-authoring scientific publications and supervise MSc students.
