Postdoctoral Researcher in Marine Microbial Ecology
2 days ago
The Department of Biology at the University of Copenhagen is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to investigate the role of marine bacterioplankton and phytoplankton interactions in volatile organic compound (VOC) production and emission. The successful candidate will be part of the Center for Volatile Interactions, a dynamic and collaborative research environment.
Main tasks and responsibilities include conducting field and experimental work, cultivating microorganisms, and performing molecular analyses to understand VOC fluxes associated with marine plankton. The post doc will also lead-writing and co-authoring scientific publications, as well as supervising MSc students. A strong publication record and excellent writing skills are essential requirements.
Scientific environment
- We offer state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and instrumentation for analyzing VOCs, microbial community structure, and activity.
- Collaborative working conditions in an international research environment.
We are looking for ambitious and highly motivated candidates with a PhD in marine microbial ecology or a related field. Fluency in English is required, along with experience in molecular community analyses, aquatic microbial ecology, and cultivation of bacteria and phytoplankton. Experience with VOC measurements and multivariate statistics is an asset.
