Past Global Changes is looking for a talented Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team exploring the deep biosphere in Arctic marine sediments.

About the Project

The Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland (GEUS) has collected marine sediment cores >200 m deep during an International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP) expedition off Northwest Greenland. We seek a researcher to study the microbiomes of the deep biosphere using these cores and further sediment samples from the Arctic Ocean.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and execute experiments to collect and analyze sediment core samples
  • Lead the analysis of high-throughput sequencing data to understand microbial diversity and composition
  • Integrate findings into a comprehensive understanding of the deep biosphere
Qualifications
  • PhD degree in a relevant field (Biology, Microbiology, Geosciences)
  • Experience in molecular genetic lab work and taxonomic and functional microbial diversity analysis
  • Knowledge of marine ecosystems and the deep biosphere
