Job Overview:

DXC Technology Inc. seeks a skilled Mainframe z/OS Systems Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our IT organization, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of z/OS operating systems and related software.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. System Installation & Configuration: Install and configure z/OS and associated components, ensuring compliance with organizational standards.

  2. Performance Monitoring: Utilize tools to monitor system performance, diagnose issues, and implement solutions to enhance efficiency.

  3. Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve system problems, including hardware and software failures, and provide technical support to users.

  4. Backup & Recovery: Develop and implement backup and recovery procedures to safeguard data integrity and ensure business continuity.

  5. Security Management: Implement security protocols and controls to protect sensitive data and comply with regulatory requirements.

  6. Documentation: Maintain up-to-date documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures for internal and external audits.

  7. Collaboration: Work closely with application developers, database administrators, and network teams to support mainframe applications and services.

  8. Software Upgrades: Plan and execute software upgrades and patches, minimizing downtime and ensuring compatibility.

  9. Capacity Planning: Assess current and future system capacity needs and recommend upgrades or modifications as necessary.

Qualifications:

  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  2. Experience: 3-5 years of experience in z/OS systems programming or a related role. Proficient in z/OS environments, including installation and configuration.

  3. Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of mainframe hardware and software components (e.g., CICS, DB2, IMS). Experience with performance monitoring tools (e.g., RMF, SMF). Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., REXX, JCL).

  4. Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

  5. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Work Environment:

  1. Primarily office-based with occasional on-call support responsibilities.

  2. Fast-paced environment requiring attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
